Equipment and Facilities

Automation plays a huge – even extreme – role in Extreme Tool and Engineering’s ability to meet stringent lead times.

A visit to our facility will reveal several fully automated work cells, automated tool changers throughout, servo robots on our molding machines, automated vision and CMM (coordinate measurement machines) systems in our quality control department. Our Haas Horizontal Machining Center (HMC), with a pallet changer, allows us to complete 90 percent of all insert and component roughing requirements in a format where all setups can be completed off-line, while we are making chips, before we turn the lights out.

Extreme Tool and Engineering operates two facilities in the United States– two 12,500 square-foot plants at our Wakefield, Michigan, headquarters.

Mold Manufacturing Facility (Wakefield) – 12,000 square feet.  Designed for the most efficient mold manufacturing possible, and equipped with the best tooling technology and equipment available anywhere.

Mold Sampling and Validation Facility (Wakefield) – 12,000 square feet. Customized for injection mold sampling, process development, quality control and validation, as well as a complete tool room dedicated to post-sample tool work (including debug, tweaking/tuning, engineering changes and mold repair).

We have an owner’s interest and management role in another mold manufacturing facility in China, Cosmos Tooling Solution which is a standalone mold making facility that is fully integrated with our U.S. operations. This seamless solution allows our customers to take advantage of our design and engineering expertise in the United States and the price advantages of production in China. We make it easy to take advantage of the manufacturing opportunity in Asia, as we manage all aspects of the process start-finish.

All molds produced at Cosmos will carry the Extreme Tool and Engineering mark of excellence. Molds and tools will undergo the same rigorous validation, debugging and tweaking; and will be warranted, revised and repaired, as required, by Extreme. Click here for more information about Cosmos.
