Molds and Markets
Medical
Medical – We have invested in processes and equipment specifically required to meet the needs of our customers developing medical applications, many of them producing millions of parts. Our team has extensive experience in medical applications, as we have helped many unique clients get to market quickly and successfully.
We have a Class 100,000 clean room enclosure at our validation center, and we can test and debug all medical molds in here as required, and can also produce the initial prototypes and/or pilot or bridge production in this same monitored clean room environment. |
Electronics
Electronics –Extreme Tool has extensive experience in the electronics market and many demanding applications including ink jet and laser printers, scanners, marine navigation, personal communication, GPS, and electrical connectors. We provide fully validated speed solutions built to the highest possible quality requirements. Extreme has designed and built hundreds of molds for the electronics industry since the day we opened our company in 1998.
Telecommunications/Cellular – We have significant experience in complex cell phone applications, with the industry’s fastest lead times. In many cases, we have provided turnkey solutions that have been fully validated and include EOAT, inspection fixtures, inspection equipment programs and a robust molding process. |
Automotive
Automotive – We have extensive experience and routinely tackle the industry’s most complicated applications and provide the fastest lead times. Our largest molds are typically for automotive applications, up to 500 tons, or approximately 10,500 pounds. Many of the these molds have Hot Runner Systems integrated, as well
|
Consumer
Consumer Goods – Many of our consumer goods clients have skipped the prototype and gone straight to pre-production molds yielding production quality products and results. We can then use these pre-production versions to immediately satisfy initial production requirements, while we design and build the high-volume production molds.
|
Automation/EOAT Development
Automation/EOAT Development – Many of Extreme’s clients take advantage of our ability to develop EOAT and Automation in parallel with the molds we build for them concurrently. The complexity of tooling we builds ranges from simply part picking with grippers/sensors/suction cups, to more complex insert installation, in-mold labeling decoration, product docking, and assembly-subassembly operations. In any of these cases, it is one less thing our clients have to worry about when they receive mold, and the robots on our tryout machines enable us to validate your automation tooling at same time we validate your mold.

Insert Molding
Insert Molding – Extreme Tool and Engineering has extensive experience in insert molding. We produce pre-production and production molds, incorporating many advanced techniques. We have a solid understanding of the challenges of insert molding and considerable experience with hydraulic and mechanical cam actions, blowback inserts, retracting cores, and other mold specialties. Depending on volume and product specifications, we help you decide the most cost effective solution. Vertical molding with multi-B sides, horizontal molding with manual or automatic loading of inserts, and reel-reel insert molds all have been successfully designed, built, and manufactured here.

Multi-Shot Molding - Overmolding
Multi-Shot Molding — Overmolding — Similar to our skills in insert molding, Extreme also builds numerous molds every year for multi shot-overmold operations. In most cases, we build separate molds for pre-mold and overmolding operations, in single or multicavity format. The parts that require overmolding are then loaded into overmold tool either using robotics or manual operation. At this time, we do not build fully automated two shot molds, only due to our inability to sample these molds in house due to equipment limitations. We expect to add this capability at a later date.

Unscrewing Molds
Unscrewing Molds — Extreme builds many molds each year that require automatic unscrewing in tool. These molds are manufactured for Automotive, Medical, Electronics, and Construction Industries, and we design and use all of the readily available unscrewing mechanisms including gear motor and cylinder and rack, depending on the application and client preference.
